  KIRBY STEPHEN EAST150th  25.08.11

 

 

 

25.06.11 The newly painted class 47  in the foreground, Ivatt 78019 has just been steamed up for the August 150 anniversary of Kirby Stehpen East Station.

 

 

The class were introduced in 1953 and were first built at Derby. 78019 was built at Darlington in 1954. Weight 59 tons driving wheels 5ft 3. boiler pressure 225.  

 

 

 

 No 910 was built at Gateshead works Nr Newcastle in 1875 by the North Eastern Railway, she was once a flyer on the East Coast. Today she has been given a little computer enhancment to bring her back to life. She is on loan for the 150th Anniversay from the NRM Shildon. By Brian Irwin
