12.12.09 Carlisle Class 86107 on the south bound postal relief by Mike Ford
WIGAN MODEL RAILWAY EXHIBITION 13th December

London Road Station 00 gauge.
The LNWR 0-6-0 tender engine is an ordinary Web Coal Engine. The Coal engine is the tender version of the coal tank and was for most cases it was the standard LNWR goods engine. Similar to the Coal Egnines were the Cauliflowers ( 18" crested goods ) and these were like a mixed traffic because they also were used for hauling carriages. CKP springs to mind. The Cauliflowers had a wavy footplate to clear the crank bosses. In one way the 0-6-0 Coal Engine is very similar to a cut down Super D 0-8-0 having a similar but shorter appearance.
