TORNADO 03.10.10

 

 

 

Carlisle station has waited 18 months for the arrival of the new A1 Pacific 60163 Tornado, There was a great welcome for the 50th class of 49 which was scrapped in the 1960s. She is turned out in L.N.E.R Apple Green 1948 nationalised British Railways livery.  She also returned on the 4th & 10th of October.

 

 

 

Its a far cry from the water tower, water for Tornado is delivered by road tanker.

A rare site of a diesel shunter in Carlisle Station, Tornado brought 13 coaches which were too long to go down the neck so they were shunted to London Road.

 

 

10th October L.M.S livery 6233 Duchess of Sutherland  also came the same day as Tornado. She waits to depart on platform 3 via Shap.
