On 30 January 2009, following several months of modification work, Europhoenix unveiled their demonstrator locomotive No. 86247.  The loco has been modified to demonstrate the types of alteration possible for export locomotives. Fitted with modern-standard light-clusters and roof-mounted headlights to comply with European standards, in place of the original headcode-mounted marker lights and central headlight.

The loco will also be fitted with twin Faiveley pantographs, as another example of the possible modifications under the Europhoenix program. Modifications to traction and internalequipment will be carried out according to customers requirements.

Europhoenix has also unveiled the first former Class 86 locomotive for export (86248), now numbered 0450 001-7, the loco is destined for open-access operator Floyd in Hungary

This locomotive features an alternative modified headlight arrangement to comply with Hungarian standards, and has been given a comprehensive examination at Long Marston. The loco is due to move to Crewe for live testing on Tuesday 3 February, and handover to Floyd for export.

A second locomotive is undergoing modification for Floyd and will follow to Hungary in March. Both locos are seen rolled-out at Long Marston on 30 January 2009.

04.02.09  The helicopter got some of our cattle off an Island we use in the middle of the Burdekin Dam today.  The Dam rose at an alarming rate today, 2 feet in ¾ of an hour after smoko…now that is a lot of water when you think of the huge mass.  The photos are of the Mt McConnel cattle yards [no dust for a little while!] and the cattle doing a swim of about 3km.  Then they took photos of the Dam Wall which tonight is 6.5metres over.from  Mark Burchell Adelaide
